Minis Remember on Remembrance Day 2024
On Sunday, 10th November, over 70 fellow Mini enthusiasts from across the UK joined us for our annual Remembrance Mini Gathering 2024 —a day that has become so much more than just a gathering of cars. Each Mini was dressed with poppies and tributes, creating a moving convoy of over 70 Minis from Tamworth to the National Memorial Arboretum. The sight of these cars, from 60s classics to modern electric Coopers, all united in remembrance, was truly powerful.
One of the best parts of the day was catching up with old friends and meeting new faces who share the same passion. Over coffee, we shared stories, admired each other’s cars, and reminisced about past runs and road trips. It’s amazing how Minis bring people together—not just as drivers, but as a community. Being able to reconnect and share in this day reminded us of the special bonds we’ve formed over the years through our shared love for these little cars.
As we drove down the A5, we were met with an incredible show of support. Pedestrians lined the bridges, waving the Union Jack and cheering us on as we passed beneath. It was a moment that put a lump in our throats, and many of us found it hard to keep the tears at bay.
Upon arriving at the Arboretum, the parking attendants directed all of the MINIs to park together, drawing an admiring crowd. We took some time to walk around, exploring the different memorials, each one a reminder of sacrifice and resilience. As the service began, we stood in silence, reflecting and giving thanks to those who gave so much for our freedom. It was a moment of unity, gratitude, and deep respect which kept that lump in our throats a little while longer—a day we won’t soon forget.
For anyone who hasn’t yet experienced this run, it’s a powerful tribute that brings together both a love for Minis and a shared respect for those we honor on Remembrance Day. It’s not just about the drive; it’s about the people, the friendships, and the freedom we celebrate together.
